Yep, dirt! I love kid food... and kid clothes and kid movies for that matter. But I don't have any kiddos of my own so until then, I get to spoil my friends kids! I decided to make dirt cake. It's just dirt cake to you, but growing up, my Grandma would make this once a summer at our cabin. We loved digging for the worms-- we always ate around them and saved the best for last! Candy has evolved since then and I was able to include chocolate rocks in this dirt cake. Too fun!
First, make sure you are feeding a large group because this recipe can feed an army of kids. There are so many variations of this recipe. The ingredients are generally similar, but measurements vary. I will share my Grandma's cherished dirt cake recipe...
Crush a bag of Oreos and set them aside. Next (in a different bowl), mix the butter, powdered sugar, and cream cheese until smooth. Set aside. Then (in a different bowl), mix the milk and pudding. Fold in the Cool Whip. You should have three bowls that look like this...
Next, fold the cream cheese mixture in the pudding and mix. Now the fun begins! Oh wait, my hubby came up from his cave to see what all the noise was about and stole a worm. This is the incriminating evidence!
Okay, now the fun really begins! Start layering... pudding, worms/rocks, crushed Oreos. Repeat.
I garnished with flowers!
